Adams County Green Space Grant Program
{Green Space Farm}
Applications are being accepted for the Adams County Green Space Grant Program's latest round of funding. The Green Space Grant Program offers a source of matching funds for land preservation efforts. Municipalities, non-profit conservancies or other eligible entities may apply to the Program for funding.
The Adams County Green Space Grant Program is a competitive funding program offering financial resources for the permanent preservation of lands in Adams County. Adams County implemented the Green Space Grant Program in 2007, following the adoption of the Adams County Green Space Grant Program Guidelines. The Guidelines provide the program requirements and application forms to apply for funding. You can view the Program Guidelines by clicking on the links below.
There are several categories of eligibility for potential preservation projects: agricultural lands, lands that protect open space, lands that provide park and recreational opportunities, and lands that have historical or cultural significance.
$1 million has been allocated to the Program for 2010. This allocation has been set at 60% for agricultural preservation, 20% for open space preservation, 10% for park and recreational lands and 8% for the preservation of sites with historical or cultural significance. A small portion of the funding will be used for administrative, legal costs and possible reimbursement of project appraisal costs. If the total amount of funding under a particular category is not awarded, it may be applied to a different category and awarded.
The Green Space Advisory Committee oversees the Program for the Adams County Commissioners. The Committee's general tasks include updating the Guidelines as needed, reviewing and ranking the various applications based on a weighted set of criteria, and making final funding recommendations to the Board of Commissioners.
NOTE: Applicants must schedule a pre-application meeting with a Green Space Grant Program representative to discuss the eligibility, scope and intent of a proposed project before submitting an application.
Required Forms for Pre-Application Meeting:
Section I of the Application Form as well as the Mandatory Pre-Application Meeting Form must be completed, to the best of your ability, prior to the Pre-Application Meeting. A “checklist” is provided to assist you in completing these forms. (Please note: these forms are in PDF format.)
